The Dress Code... Link-Up

If you don't already know, I am a nursing student. I got accepted into the College of Nursing last semester, so starting this coming fall, I will be doing my clinicals + other nursing classes.

I'm linking up with Anna today to talk about the dress code that nurses have. Now, I'm not a nurse yet, but I have worked in a hospital as a CNA for almost three years now. I love it.

Today, I want to make my dress code wish list.

The best part of being in the nursing field is that your uniform is usually pretty comfy. I get to wear stretchy pants and a cotton shirt to work, which is pretty awesome. Here is one scrub top that caught my eye:

What do I look for when choosing scrub tops?

-I prefer the scrubs that have the mock wrap, which is the crossing over of the fabric by the neck
-Large pockets to store things
-A pattern that isn't too busy, but is still fun
-Something comfortable and easy to move around in (no frilly scrub tops)

With the top I chose above, it would be hard to chose the pants I'd want to wear with it. Black and white would look good, but I think I would try to find pants that match the purple that is in the shirt. Like this pair...

The pants that I showed above happen to be Cherokee pants, which are personally my favorite brand. They have a good amount of pockets and most importantly, they are very comfortable and move with my body.

Lastly, I've been really wanting a watch. I found this one. Probably a little fancy for work, but I love the sparkles!

Now that I have put together this super awesome outfit, I really want to buy it. The one downside is that scrubs aren't exactly cheap. I already have a pretty good selection now in my closet, so I really can't go out and buy these.

(A good portion of my scrubs, not including the ones in the washer)

Ugh, nursing problem ;) I guess that's why its called a wish list!

High Five for Friday!

My five favorite things from this week are:

1. My seven year old brother is in a summer school reading class. He has brought home two books about the Titanic and he tells me about it. It's the cutest thing ever.

2. I did another sweet design with my nails. I'm so proud of myself :)

Yes, I did do this myself!

3. I saw Lupe Fiasco in concert. More on that later.

4. I finally did a couple of button swaps! Woo hoo!

5. I have the day off today and I got so much accomplished! I am catching up on blog things, I sent in a scholarship, and now I can hear the pool calling my name :)

Okay, maybe not like that but close enough! ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Is That Normal?

I'm linking up with Allyce over at Chalk in the Rain to answer the big question...

Is it normal to drive 5 mph over the speed limit? 10 mph?
I think it's normal to drive 5 or 10 mph over the speed limit when you're driving on the highway/interstate. I never go the exactly speed limit when I'm driving on the interstate, but usually I try to stay around the speed limit when I'm driving in town.
More importantly, cops are easier to spot on the highway ;)

Is it normal to pick a wedgie in public?
I'm sorry, but if I have a wedgie, I'm going to pick it. I'm sure I'm not the only person out there that thinks that. Should you make it obvious? Probably not. But I thinking picking a wedgie in public is totally acceptable! :)

Is it normal to put makeup on even if you aren't planning on leaving the house?
People, THIS IS NOT NORMAL! But seriously, I'm lucky if I even get dressed when I don't plan on leaving the house (PJs all day). There's no way I would be putting on makeup. I personally believe that make-up is something that should be used more when you are going out places. Your home should be a place where you can be the real you and everyone that comes into your home should respect that.

Is it normal to go skinny dipping?
It depends. Is it normal to go skinny dipping a couple times in your life to be wild and free? Yes. Is it normal to make skinny dipping a daily thing? Not so much.

Is it normal to use the restroom while on the phone?
Okay, okay. I have done this before (A lot). If you are talking with your best friend and you know she doesn't care if you just pee quick while you are on the phone, yes it is normal. If you are in a public restroom and chatting with your mom about what you plan on eating at Thanksgiving, the people that are trying to use the restroom may feel a little awkward.

Is it normal to check yourself out when passing by a window/mirror?
Uh, yeah. There is not one person who walks past a window or mirror and doesn't check themselves out. It's basically a given. The funny thing is that there are guys out there who check themselves out in mirrors more than a girl would.

Is it normal to keep folded laundry in the basket instead of putting it away?
If you would ask my mom about this one she would she it's not normal, but she is not the one who is writing this post! It's total normal to find your outfits in a laundry basket instead of a closet. I mean, you're going to end up messing all your drawers and piles of clothes up while you are looking for that one shirt. You might as well just store it in a place that's easier to dig through.

Is it normal to turn & walk the opposite direction when seeing someone you know in a store?
Yes. It's also perfectly normal to hide behind a rack of clothes just to be sure they don't see you.

Is it normal to drink coffee/soda from a straw?
I don't think I could ever drink strait up coffee through a straw. Sure, if I went to Starbucks and ordered a fancy coffee drink, then I would drink it with a straw. But who puts straws in a hot cup of coffee? As for soda, I think it's perfectly normal. Every restaurant you go to uses straws in the sodas. Plus, if you don't use a straw, then you have to work really hard to not swallow/eat the ice cubes and that's just too much work for me.

Is it normal to hover the toilet in a public restroom?
I think a lot of people do this and it is normal. It's best to have a clean bottom!

Let's Get Pint-imate Challenge

I have recently decided to join this interest challenge that Shane over at Whispering Sweet Nothings is running. It's called Let's Get Pint-imate!

All you have to do to is make a board on Pinterest and pin pictures onto the board that you feel fits the theme that Shane has picked. For the month of March, the theme is "Spring Fling". If she picks your board as the winner, you receive an ad space with Whispering Sweet Nothings and you also win a $40 gift card to In-Pink Jewelry. {Checked out the page and oh my... such beautiful jewelry!}

My favorite thing about this jewelry {besides that it's pretty} is that it is so reasonable! The hoops above are $12.50 and the necklace/earrings set is $30! This means that with a $40 gift card, I could definitely buy a good amount of jewelry, which makes this challenge even more appealing!

Here is just a little preview of what my "Spring Fling" board looks like! For the official rules and to link your board to Shane's post, click here. Join in the fun and encourage others to do the same!
